Tatiana Melguizo is a professor at the USC Rossier School of Education. She works in the field of economics of higher education. She uses quantitative methods of analysis to study the association of different factors, educational programs, as well as public policies on the persistence and educational outcomes of minority and low-income students.
Melguizo has received grants from the Institute of Education Sciences (IES), National Science Foundation (NSF), Spencer foundation, AERA, the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation, Jack Kent Cooke, Nellie Mae and Lumina foundations and from the Association for Institutional Research, National Postsecondary Education Cooperative (AIR/NPEC). Her work has been published in Education Evaluation and Policy Analysis, Teachers College Record, The Journal of Higher Education, The Review of Higher Education, Research in Higher Education, Higher Education and World Development.
Melguizo earned the 2018-19 Rossier Faculty Leadership Award for exceptional leadership at the state, national, and international level. This includes membership on California Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Thurmond’s Committee on Closing the Achievement Gap, serving as Chair of AERA’s Division J Dissertation Awards Committee, and an invitation from the Colombian Department of Education to give a talk as part of a group of international experts on topics related to educational quality.

The UBI Evaluation Project at LACCD
A partnership between the Pullias Center and the Price Center for Social Innovation to evaluate a pilot program being conducted by the Leonetti/O’Connell Family Foundation that is providing universal basic income (UBI) to community college students.
Bridging Non-STEM and STEM Math Tracks: Increasing Community College STEM Opportunities
Funded by the National Science Foundation, this project aims to serve the national interest by remediating racial, gender and class tracking in community college math courses in order to advance opportunity and equity in STEM participation.
