Román Liera is a postdoctoral research associate in the Pullias Center for Higher Education at the USC Rossier School of Education. He is a qualitative researcher who studies racial equity in student outcomes and faculty participation. Liera uses critical, organizational, and sociocultural theories to centralize the experiences of racialized and minoritized people in higher education, and practitioners engaged in equity work.
Liera transferred from Los Angeles Pierce College to San Diego State University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology. He received his master’s degree in higher and postsecondary education from Teachers College, Columbia University, and his PhD in Urban Education Policy from USC Rossier.
