As Adrianna Kezar has written, faculty development can go a long way to eliminating the worst aspects of the growing adjunct situation, but it cannot resolve the long-term structural issues, and this needs to be important to higher education administrators truly concerned about online educational quality. In addition to the human costs involved when working in a state of precarity, there are costs to educational quality as well.
