Men of Color Program Receives COVID-19 Rapid Response Grant from ECMC Foundation
The Pullias Center for Higher Education has been awarded a COVID-19 Rapid Response Small Grant from ECMC Foundation to support the ongoing Men of Color study.
The funds, which ECMC Foundation has made available through a program for the organization’s existing grantees, have been generously provided to help students involved in men of color programs that are currently being studied by Adrian Huerta. For many students in college, theirhourly wages are being cut, so the funds will be directed to men of color program leadership to help their students purchase gas and grocery store gift cards, access at wifi hotspots, or tackle other unexpected expenses during this pandemic.
“I am beyond grateful that with the support of ECMC Foundation we can offer help in a small way to the hundreds of students involved in the five men of color programs throughout the state we are studying,” stated Huerta, who applied for this grant for the ECMC Foundation-funded Men of Color study. “We know that men of color in higher education feel immense pressure to work and support their families, so every dollar from the ECMC Foundation small grant will count to help students be successful in college.”
ECMC Foundation started this Rapid Response Small Grants program to support existing grantees impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. A total of 65 grants equaling $583,850 were awarded to organizations serving 4.2 million students annually.
